On Saturday, November 16th approximately 100 people came out to the Bowlero Bowling Centre to support Autism Services Inc. and Coats for Kids. Over $2,460 was raised for ASI and 41 coats were collected. Thank you Dania and the second year business students who organized this fundraiser. The money will help support the students and who attend the Bruce Awad Summer Program.

Thank you to Nancy Johns Gallery!

We would like to thank Nancy Johns Gallery & Framing for their generous support. A reception was held on November 9th with proceeds benefiting the Bruce Awad Summer Program. The gallery also donated 10 percent of art sales during the month of November to the Bruce Awad Summer Program.

ASI Receives $3,000 from Windsor Family Credit Union

It is a privilege and an honour to have been selected as one of the benefiting charities of the 2013 WFCU Community Donations Fund. ASI received $3000 which will benefit the 2013 Bruce Awad Summer Program. The Board of Directors of ASI and the families whose children attend the Bruce Awad Summer Program are grateful for the thoughtful generosity and continuing support of the Windsor Family Credit Union.

Thank You to Taylor's 4th Annual BBQ & Yard Sale for Autism

On June 1st in Cottom, a BBQ and yard sale was organized by a young girl named Taylor and her family. Half the proceeds were donated to the Bruce Awad Summer Program the other half to an Autism charity in Brampton where Taylor and her family live. Thank you Taylor, her family and all the volunteers for the $819 that was donated to ASI. You are truly inspirational.

Spike Down Autism

Thank you to everyone who came out to play volleyball on Saturday, June 8th at the Dominion House on 3140 Sandwich Street. Over $320 was rasied. A special thank you to Catherine McKay for organizing this wonderful fundraiser for ASI.

Amy's Autism Awareness

Thank you to the students and staff at St. Joseph's Catholic High School for their tremendous efforts in organizing the Amy's Autism Awareness Campaign. Amy Wagner was a St. Joseph's student and a support worker for ASI that died in a tragic accident in March 2012. To honour Amy's memory they hold a dress down day where students donate money in order to wear pink or purple. The money raised is then donated to the Bruce Awad Summer Program. This year the students raised $725. Thank you to Mr. Gilbert and his Business Leadership class who have committed to making this an annual event.

Another Successful Pasta Dinner!

A big thank you to everyone who came out to support the Bruce Awad Summer Program at the 5th Annual Pasta Dinner. A special thank you to all our table sponsors (see list here), entertainers including Face Painter Carolyn Levesque, Magician Bill Nuvo, and DJ Rob Paglia from Soundtraxx, prize donors, dessert makers and volunteers whose efforts made everything possible. We're still tallying up the money raised but it looks like we may have surpassed last year's total.

Holy Cross Catholic School Raises $1144 for ASI

To mark World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, 2013 the students at Holy Cross Catholic School in LaSalle raised $1144 for the ASI Bruce Awad Summer Program! All of us at ASI are grateful for the tremendous effort these students gave. They are truly inspiring.

ABA-Based Services in Southwestern Ontario

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based services and support for children and youth (under 18 years) with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) provides information and education on ABA strategies. Services are provided to families and people and agencies who work or play with children and youth with ASD. Thank You to Menard's Fish Shack and Tavern

Over $700 was raised for the Bruce Awad Summer Program at the Super Bowl Party hosted by Menard's Fish Shack and Tavern on Super Bowl Sunday. Thank you to everyone who helped with this event and to all those who stopped in and made a donation. Please support our community supporters by stopping in for some great food. Menard's is located at 494 Riverdale Avenue in the Riverside area of Windsor. Thanks again!

University of Windsor Research Request

Do you have a child with ASD who has been to Kindergarten in the last 2 or 3 years? Researchers are looking for parents to participate in a group discussion with other parents to share their experiences on transiting children to school. Request for Participants for University of Windsor Studies

The first study is on the Resilience of Siblings of Children with Autism. Drs. James Coyle and Irene Carter of the University of Windsor are conducting research on the resiliency of siblings, age 18 to 30, of children with autism. There is a payment of $30.00 for each interview. For more information please see recruitment notice here.

The second study is on Coping Experiences of Parents of Adult Children Who Have a Dual Diagnosis. This study will help to identify the importance of social support and what needs are met and unmet.
