St. Joseph Catholic High School Raises over $1400 for ASI in Memory of Amy Wagner

Amy Wagner was an employee of the ASI Summer Program who tragically passed away on March 11, 2012. Amy first worked for ASI in the summer of 2010 as a student from New Beginnings. She excelled at her job and was hired the following summer as a support worker at the Windsor location. Amy was an enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated staff member who cared deeply for the individuals she worked with. She was well liked by so many of us at ASI and we will miss her.

As a tribute to Amy, St. Joseph High School, where she was a grade 12 student, initiated a fundraising event on April 2nd which coincided with World Autism Awareness Day. Students were asked to donated a loonie for a puzzle piece which they hung on the windows of the school atrium. On Thursday April 5, ASI as well as friends and family were invited to attend a memorial tree planing ceremony at the school. It was here that the students presented ASI with $1400 to benefit the Bruce Awad Summer Program which was near and dear to Amy's heart.

All of us at ASI would like send a very heartfelt thank you to the student and staff at St. Joseph High School and to Amy's Wagner's family who generously requested that donations be made to ASI in Amy's honour.
