CHILIFEST 2011

Thank you to everyone who came downtown to the Windsor Armouries to enjoy some great chili at the Chilifest 2011. Over 40 local restaurants participated. Thank you once again to all the volunteers and especially to the Windsor Firefighters Benefit Fund for supporting Autism Services Inc. If your organization is interested in hosting a charity event on our behalf please contact the ASI office at 519-966-7283.

The 2011 Charity Challenge Fun Run

logo Thank you to everyone who came out to support ASI at the Charity Fun Run. A big thank you to the National Bank of Canada and the Running Factory for selecting ASI as one of the official charities that benefited from the 2011 Charity Challenge Fun Run. The 8K Run, 3K Run/Walk or 1K Kid's Run took place on Sunday, September 18th. ASI raised $2,724.34 in pledges which was good enough for 3rd place giving us a $1,000 bonus. At the end of the day we raised a total $3,844.34.

A Father's Day Journey for Autism Services Inc. Raises $12,600

Sam Helou On Father's Day June 19th, ASI parent and supporter, Sam Helou completed two marathons (84km) along the Chrysler Canada Greenway Trail as part of an all day effort to raise funds for ASI. His journey began at 6am and ended at 7:30pm. At the end of the day over $12,000 in pledges had been raised by Sam and his family and pledges are still coming in. All the money raised will help fund the Bruce Awad Summer Program.

Pledges for Sam's Journey can still be made through CanadaHelps.org. Be sure to click on the Dawn to Dusk Fund Designation when making your pledge.

All of us at ASI are extremely grateful to Sam and his family for their tremendous efforts.

ASI Receives $5,000 from Green Shield Canada's Community Giving Program

ASI received a $5,000 grant from Green Shield Canada's Community Giving Program. This funding was used to purchase craft carts and art supplies for the 2011 Bruce Awad Summer Program. Painting, drawing and other creative art projects provide many benefits to children with autism spectrum disorders. This funding enabled us to provide the much need art supplies at both Windsor and Essex locations. Thank you to Green Shield Canada for supporting our organization and for making this possible.

Essex OPP Cop Camp Annual Car Wash for ASI

A car wash to benefit ASI was held on Saturday, June 11th at the Tecumseh Fire Hall. 80 students from the Values, Influences and Peers (VIP) Program who attended this year's Cop Camp in August were "Paying it Forward" by participating in an event to raise money for a local charity. This year these wonderful students raised $1,000 for ASI's wonderful kids. Thank you to the VIP students, Essex OPP Cop Camp, Tecumseh Fire Service and all the volunteers and supporters who come out. A special cheque presentation was made to ASI during the Cop Camp on August 9. Kids helping kids...what a great thing!

Harrow Knights of Columbus Supports ASI

Thank you to the Harrow K. of C. Council 5350 for donating $750 to ASI. This was half of the proceeds from their Elimination Draw. The other half was donated to the Down Syndrome Association. The Elimination Draw is part of the annual BBQ which was held on April 30th.

Sutherland Global Services Cares

Thank you to Sutherland Global and their employees for their generous donation of $1845 to ASI. Employees contributed to a fund in exchange to participate in the company dress down days. The company then matched the employee contributions. A staff member at Sutherland Global recommended the funds be donated to ASI.

600 People Show Support at Pasta Dinner!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated gifts and desserts and came out to our 3rd Annual Pasta Dinner on April 8th. The event was SOLD OUT! Special thanks to our MC, Tony Doucette from CBC Windsor, Carolyn Levesque the children's face painter and Andre Nicholson the DJ. Your generous efforts helped make our dinner a success.

This was the first year we sought corporate table sponsorships and we'd like to thank the following business for their generous donations: Tim Hortons, Howie & Partners Chartered Accountants, AON Reed Stenhouse Insurance Brokers, The Toybox Early Education Centres, Dr. Marco Carroccia Family Dentistry, Ken Knapp Ford, RBC Dominion Securities, Greater Essex County Occasional Teachers ETFO, Autism Awareness, Mark Luvisotto Dentistry and the Ontario Elementary Catholic Teachers Association.

Thank You Green Shield for Supporting ASI

A big thank you once again, to the staff of the Windsor office of Green Shield Canada. In February they held a dress down day and donated all the proceeds to ASI. A total of $970 was raised on our behalf.

Windsor Police Support ASI

Thank you to the Windsor Police Services for donating $373 which was raised during their dress down day at the Windsor Police Headquarters in December. The total amount raised was $746 which was shared between us and the John McGivney Children's Centre.
